Now the big question is: is it possible for a foreign car to stay in Brasil forever? We must wait to see if someone stays in Brasil with a car more than 3 months now.
I do know of some people who were keeping a car in Brasil for years because they would enter/exit only at Foz, where the controls are loose. But that was about 5 years ago.
