Autoverkauf Korrupte Beamte konfeszieren VAn in Argentinen (Sonstiges)

The common factor in the three confiscations that I have heard about is that the first exit from Argentina was done under a Power of Attorney (poder) and subsequent successful entries were also done without the vehicle being properly transferred to the new owner back in the US. After two or three border crossings, the vehicle was impounded.
Several border posts are not computerised, so were the successful recrossings done at uncomputerised posts and the unsuccessful one done at a computerised post.

Not all that clear whether that was also the case here.

BTW, as far as I've been able to find out, many states in the US, and several other countries as well, DO NOT allow title transfer without the buyer being present to handle the paperwork.

Would be good to know if the lack of proper title was a factor simply because the title did not match the passport details and the TIP and the Poder was not valid after the first crossing.

My suggestion is that the official reissue of the TIP at BA was a temporary measure to allow the new owner to drive the vehicle out of Argentina never to return and maybe was never intended to allow multiple recrossings without the title papers being reissued in the new owners name.
