This comment demonstrates exactly what is wrong with the ideas of the people on this thread.
I created the CAMPGROUND database for my own use since no one on this forum would help build an open source free database. Almost all of the travelers' data i got from the few people on this forum, I discarded. It was garbage data. I built a database of Campgrounds, not random stops at fuel stations. I have no interest in making money from this database. I could care less if i sold 1 or 1000 copies of it. However, given the complete lack of help i received to build it, there is no way I am going to give it away for free. Many travelers on my path have asked for the database. In order to make it worth my time, I ask for a price which I think is appropriate. If i knew that i was going to sell 1000's of the database then i would ask for a much lower price. But this database is very specialized and the market for such a database is very small. You will readily pay 1000's of Euros for useless things like a winch or sand-ladders, or Panasonic Toughbooks, but you will not pay for something which you will actually use. Why ? Because you have a misconceived idea that all data must be free. You are accustomed to this for many types of data on the internet and so you think that ALL data should be free. Well, all not is not free. Especially customized data is not free.

In my past 5 years of travel in South America i have spent countless hours assisting other travelers (mostly german speaking) with their computers. Installing maps, programs, etc. Basically i feel like I am some sort of tech support whenever i arrive in a campground of overlanders. I never asked anything for it. I have never accepted anything for it. Now thanks to you lot of rude insolent jerks, I am never going to assist other travelers again.

You might think I have been harsh with some of you on this thread. Reread the thread. Examine which side in this thread started with the nasty comments. Examine which side started with the negativity. It was not me. All I did was give you back what you deserved. This type of nonsense happens in internet forums all the time. Why? Because there are some people who think because the internet provides some anonymity, that they can act in impolite ways. That is why in my early messages on this thread I specifically asked you all to cease and desist with the negative nasty comments. But you continued. Why? Because you are not adults, and you cannot see where such behavior will lead. Look at who is anonymous on this thread and who is not. Most of my detractors are hiding behind a false cloak of anonymity, while I openly tell you who I am.
