Sorry this reply is in English, I hope google translate handles it well!

We spent 3 months in Bolivia in late 2013, so this info is current. We had no security issues, everyone we met was friendly, positive, pleased that we were there. If you care to look on our blog at this page: http://moglander.com/maps-and-routes/ and using the 2nd map down, you can zoom into Bolivia and see the route we drove.

We wild camped most nights, and used parking places such as hotel oberland when in La Paz etc. We had no problems at fuel stations for overnights, and always asked the fuel attendant, and I think they liked that we asked and kept an eye on us.

We spent about 2 months in Peru, and again, very safe indeed. no problems. Again, we wild camped in some places, and used good parking places while in the bigger towns or cities.

For overland trips, these are great countries to visit, and with regular care and attention anyone should be able to enjoy them.

All this said: We NEVER leave anything visible in the drivers cabin, no matter where we park. If we are unsure, we even leave the glove box open so it can be seen there is nothing there. Not even a map.
We do have secondary security locks on the doors, and as far as we can tell they have never been tampered with, or attempted to be opened.
We always park before dark so that we can see where we are parking. and see who is around it, are their broken bottles etc.

Hope this helps!
Merv.
