An der Grenze muss man eine "Declaración Jurada" ausfüllen. In dieser sollte man auf jeden Fall den Punkt III. a) "I do herby declare that I am carrying one ore more plant or animal products" mit "Yes" beantworten! Unter Garantie hat nämlich jeder Reisende eines der unten aufgelisteten Produkte dabei. Sollte man die Frage verneinen und das Produkte wird entdeckt, wird man empfindlich bestraft.

Im Folgenden der Text der Einfuhrerklärung des chilenischen Zolls im Wortlaut:

III. Agriculture and livestock service

Dear traveler, please help us protect Chile`s agricultural, forest and animal health. Chilean law sets forth that every individual of legal age must declare any plant or animal product he/she is carrying. A person is considered of legal age if he/she is 18 years or older. If you are travelling with one or more underage persons, you must include them in this declaration, undertaking any liability for their baggage. According to Chilean laws, making a SAG Affidavit that is found to be untrue is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine.
For furtner information as to the goods that may freely enter but which must be declared, visit SAG`s website at www.sag.gob.cl.

What PLANT products must I declare?

- Fruits and vegetables (fresh, dried, dehydrated, frozen and agro-processed).
- Any plant matter for reproduction, inculding but not limited to: live plants, parts of plants (leaves, stalks, roots, cuttings, twigs, tubers, bulbs or other botanic structures).
- Any kind of grains and seeds, including dual purpose ones (consumption or sowing).
- Grains and legumes.
- Any kind of spices or seasonings, herbs and vegetable spices.
- Soil or any products containing soil.
- Woods.
- Any kind of conifer cones.
- Any kind of biological matter (live insects, spores or other).
- Pesticides or fertilizers.

What ANIMAL products must I declare?

- Meat or its derivates (ham, sausages, other).
- Milk and its derivates (cheese, yoghurt, other).
- Veterinary medicine (vaccines, antibiotics, diagnosis kits, medicated shampoo, - Semen and embryos.
- Animal feed.
- Animal products and food for personal use containing them.
- All kinds of ornaments and crafts from animal origin (antlers, horns, hooves, paws, etc.).
- Trophies, hunting and museum items.
- Insectaries.

Wir haben insgesamt zwölfmal die Grenze zwischen Argentinien und Chile überquert. Im Norden wird an den Grenzen sehr genau kontrolliert, im Süden weniger streng. Leider beteiligen sich die Argentinier als Retourkutsche ebenfalls an dem Kontrollwahnsinn (im Norden waren sie bei uns strenger als die Chilenen). Wir haben jedoch im Vorfeld der Kontrollen, die Lebensmittel "kreativ im Auto verstaut" und hatten nie Probleme. Lasst Euch also nicht verrückt machen - wie immer ist im Endeffekt alles ganz easy
