Never met a German traveler yet who couldn't speak English better than me so I avoid the temptation to insult other forum members by having Mr Google translate into bad German. I figure if they want information badly enough they will be happy to get it in any language.

We have a motorhome in Germany and go there most years to explore a bit more of greater Europe and I am constantly amazed that I can go into a vehicle workshop and just start talking technical stuff in English with the first person I see and they understand perfectly AND reply using the correct technical term in English despite claiming they haven't spoken English since leaving school.
