The other thing you must NEVER do is to use a tracker like SPOT or DeLorme SE to show everyone exactly where you are camping for the night. This is because it is well known that criminals will monitor your internet feed and know exactly where you are and of course this saves them huge amounts of time cruising around at random looking for overlanders to rob.

Yes, of course I am joking, but I have seen this warning posted as a serious suggestion though.

Every afternoon the whole world can know where we are withing a couple of metres so why haven't we been robbed. I have a track showing our location every 10 minutes.
