In Argentina, just about every fuel station - on main roads anyway - has good internet, and lots of times it isn't password protected. Even when it is passworded, they readily give it out if you go into the shop.

In Chile nearly all of the libraries are on a national system so once you register once, you can log in at most other libraries - even outside in the street most times. Take an external booster as it will come in handy, specially at campgrounds or restaurants where the signal cant be picked up otherwise.

Unlike the US, it is uncommon to find open private networks.
