Could This Be the Ideal Battery for Off-Grid Travel in South America?

We’re Energy Rebels GmbH, a small battery manufacturer from Switzerland. As vanlifers we’ve developed what we believe is the most compact and robust 300Ah LiFePO₄ battery currently on the market, worldwide.

Our VAN Battery is already being used by travellers across Europe – and now we’re wondering: Could it be useful for people on the road in South America, too?

It’s compact enough to fit under the driver’s seat in vehicles like the VW T5/T6, Fiat Ducato, and similar vans. And with 300 amps continuous discharge, it’s strong enough to power a 3kW inverter and even run two induction cooktops at the same time. Also eBikes can be charged easily.

We’ve noticed that in many parts of South America, it’s not always easy to refill gas bottles. But electricity – whether from solar panels or the alternator while driving – is allways there. Could switching to electric cooking and energy storage make life on the road simpler?

We’ve been living off-grid ourselves with just 200Wp of solar on the roof – and it’s been enough for most situations. With 400Wp, many vanlifers might barely need to think about power again, just more freedome.

Now we’re playing with the idea of starting a small production site in Santiago de Chile. But before taking any steps, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
