We have been using SPOT and Garmin Inreach for several years in any countries.
There is also an option tbuy extra cover to assist in countries that do not have search and rescue systems in place.
Works everywhere and you can text messages to any email address or mobile phone - two way messaging including as part of SOS calls.
Also position tracking and special event notifications
Not cheap, I pay 40 dollars a month and unit is 300+ dollars but we think it is worth it.
