Warmwasser auf längerer Reise (Sonstiges)

All our vehicles have hot water systems fuelled by propane or diesel and or the engine, but our first vehicle in South America, the Iveco, didn't have water heater or a bathroom so we made do with a basin and a couple of litres of warm water heated on the cooktop. Even in the other vehicles, if we run short of water we use the same system except that having the bathroom means you can splash the warm water around a bit more freely without getting the bed wet.

My choice is for 2 very long, very hot showers per day, but up in the high places in Bolivia, water is scarce and onboard tanks small, so "naval showers" are better than nothing for getting most of the dust off.

Having a generator is a good backup in case of flat batteries, but consider installing a solar panel - at least 100 watts and more if you have the room, plus a split charging system (preferably one using a contactor with decent size wiring to reduce voltage drop) to allow charging from the alternator to your house battery
