USA Visum (Papierkram)

IVECO Tony @, Wherever., Dienstag, 13. März 2018, 11:10 (vor 2207 Tagen) @ Josch und Ilona

My request sent last week. Relates to our B1B2 visa, but I believe the response would be the same for the visa waiver system

Sorry - can't find a specific topic heading to cover my questionMy wife and I have traveled to the US from Australia several times using our B1/B2 visa, the second 5 year one being still current.

We have spent time in Mexico and Canada during some of those visits but so far the total time in the USA and either Mexico or Canada has been within the allowable 6 month limit for the visa. I understand that short periods in the other two countries counts the same as if the time were spent in the USA and so far that hasn't been a problem.

However next time (in about 2 months) we would like to spend about 7 or 8 months in total with 2 months of that total being wholly within Canada without crossing back into either Alaska of the Lower 48. Rough itinerary would be 1 month in Lower 48, 2 months in Canada, 2 months in Alaska, 1 month Canada and 2 months Lower 48 - then fly out to Europe

Can you confirm whether that time frame would comply with the clock-ticking rules and if, after being in Canada for 2 months (or ??? days if there is a set minimum period) the next land entry to the US would be regarded as a separate entry

We have a motorhome in the US and will be travelling in it for the whole time.

Thanks

Good afternoon,

You have to do your own calculation. If the total time that you spent in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, adjacent islands, and some Caribbean areas exceeds the initial admission period, you won't be able to reenter into U.S. However, if you spent several months in Canada first, those time won't be counted toward your admission period in the U.S. if you arrived in Canada first. The clock starts when you were admitted into U.S. first.

Thank you,

As always, your experience might vary
