I looked at buying a Swiss vehicle in South America but pulled out when I realised that that firstly, only a Swiss citizen could easily buy it legally and get proper title, and further because of Swiss law, the registration and 'title' had been cancelled as soon as it was taken out of Switzerland. The vehicle had fake license plates.

The deal was going to be that I would be given a PODER so I could drive it around and then so I could sell it to someone else later, I would be given a couple of "spare" poders that would have the purchaser's name left blank.

All highly irregular and totally illegal, but of course your situation may be totally different and completely aboveboard.
