Quinta Lala at Cusco Peru - still operating (Sonstiges)

IVECO Tony @, Wherever., Dienstag, 30. September 2014, 21:58 (vor 3501 Tagen)

I know the original Dutch owners have gone, but does anyone have current info on whether it is still operating, still accepting vehicles for long term parking, and most important, can the vehicle import permit still be suspended to allow the owners to fly home for a few months.

Is there a current web site. The old one hasn't been updated for 4 years so maybe contact details are useless by now.

Thanks

Tony

Ah, OK. Just needed to dig around a bit deeper. Heard back from original owners Helmie.

New contact details are Milagros (mili_sj_7@hotmail.com)

Now waiting to hear whether he can help arrange suspension of TIP and what the storage costs are.

Quinta Lala at Cusco Peru - still operating

Hello,

My vehicle is currently stored at Quinta lalla Cuzco since 4 months.
It costs me 10 soles per day. The girl in charge of the camping is very helpfull. Her name is Milagros. her email is mili_sj_7@hotmail.com.
All the paperwork for suspension of customs documents can be done at Cuzco customs office. It takes +/- 1 week. Milagros can explain you all.
You are expected to give a good (medical?) reason to explain to the customs why you have to leave Peru.
Good luck

I guess she will answer my email in due course.

One thing surprises me with storage in S America is the relatively high cost compared to the average standard of living relative to the cost of storing vehicles in similar circumstances in other countries.

Did you need documentation from a doctor to substantiate the medical reason, or just a statement from you outlining the problem and the reasons for needing to return home.

Hello,

Milagros doesn't speak english, nor german, nor french. She does answer to any email in spanish (thanks google translator!).

You need to prove your health problem with a document.
They also need a copy of your flight ticket, a letter writen in spanish explaining why you have to leave peru and for how long. You also need a report from the touristical police who has to come and visit the camping and ensure your vehicle is really stored there and check the mileage.
Milagros has to supply copies of her ID, electricity bill etc...

All that takes 1 week and requires some visits to the touristical police and customs office in the city center.

Good luck.

Thanks for the extra info

Hmmmm! Might need a bit of luck. Must buy a plane ticket hoping they give permission to leave. If they don't then we would be down several thousand dollars just for the plane tickets that we couldn't use. We do have documents re medical problem, but they are from the US and now several months old and would need to be massaged a bit to emphasize the ongoing problem and the requirement for a trip home - but they may not accept either the documents or the BS required to convert them into a valid reason for leaving - and they might not grant the period of absence we require.
Milagros doesn't answer emails in any language so far and just arriving at her door risks having no room to leave the RV. She might be of limited assistance in sorting out glitches since we have no mutual language.

Not exactly guaranteed to wok by the sound of it. Brazil is sounding better and of course Uruguay is just about guaranteed to work. Just not fussed about the drive to get there

Decisions, decisions.

Tony, contact Coen and Marikje from http://www.landcruisingadventure.com/ - they have done the same thing in May THIS year from Huanchaco in Peru, so their information should be current. (They are right now somewhere in the jungle of Ecuador, not easy to reach by internet...).

Thanks all.

Have finally heard back from the campground and there are enough assurances from those who responded above so we will head up there.
My first plan involving a free parking spot in Brasilia would have meant a long drive across east Bolivia and western Brazil and nearing summer in the lowlands would not be my preferred location. Three of four thousand metres up seems a lot more tolerable.
