Ioverlander, Sinnlose Einträge (Sonstiges)

"Hi,
The main problem is surely that I Overlander is not "moderated", the operator is sitting cozy home and leaves the entries accrue until such time as he can peddle for 29.90. Look for tracks for Africa that costs what but these are items to be as good, it is located just possible can leave, IO is free so what do you expect, that's something like this forum ;-)
Worst I find are items that / restaurants are not coordinated with the owners of the camping / Guest Houses. Since leaving a friendly restaurant owners because it is late to camp a tourist in his car park and a day later he is without his knowledge as a camping possibility in IO ... I was so many times that people are then acidified and nothing to do with campers have want. Whatever current are accommodation once which were have but for whatever reason always made tight and still rumspuken in IO.
Meanwhile runs IO with me alongside with but can count on it not, too bad! "

Actually iOverlander IS moderated as much as one person can possibly do. It is also moderated by everyone who uses ioverlander which is how it was set up to work. Once again it is our fellow overlanders who are to blame for what you see as shorcomings, not ioverlander itself. When places are marked as closed because they should not have been put in in the first place, that is about the best that can be done. Either entries are taken at face value in the knowledge that maybe 5% are crap, 10% are out of date, 25% are fantastic and the rest are reasonable OR you don't publish any place until 5 others have said it is fantastic - but of course how do the other 5 find the place unless it is published.

Where exactly did this 29.90 come from, and who are these people sitting cozy at home. The main two people have full time jobs and in between working for a living, spend a lot of their spare time and spare money keeping ioverlander freely available for everyone. The extremely small band of highly unpaid volunteers also have other things to do when they are not working on iOverlander

But you are correct in that many contributors add places that should not be added - but on the other hand many restaurants and other businesses are quite happy to get a bit of extra business so there is no fixed rule and IO has to rely on the commonsense of the traveler to make the right call.

It will never be perfect because the members aren't perfect and everyone has quite different standards, but if there are any very experienced app writers out there with plenty of time or any generous billionaires to donate a heap of money, I'm sure it can be made better.
