Did you get your TIP deposit back, or was it a 10=year TIP for a motorhome. If it is the 6-month TIP that wasn't handed in, you may have problems getting back into Mexico in future once it has expired.

What some travelers do though is to forget to get their FMM (tourist visa) at the border which is where you have to get it even on Baja. If you forget, you are illegally in Mexico once you leave the immediate border zone. Been a few who have got as far as La Paz without it and haven't been able to board the ferry and have had to drive back north to get it.
