5000W is maybe usable in the US if you have 50 amp supply available in US and Canadian campgrounds, but as you go south the available current will decrease dramatically and once you get to Ecuador, you will be lucky to get a genuine ten to 15 amps at 110V.

We have a 2000 watt and can run our airconditioner with no problems. Also the microwave, but preferably only one at a time if the battery charger and fridge are also running on 120V mains
