A way to become legal owner of a car purchased in SA (Sonstiges)

Hi there,

While I have mostly worked this option to facilitate the sale of my car ( see previous post on Toyota Landcruiser for sale at the end of January 2015 in Chile), after having read so many post on how to buy a car with SA plate, I have decided to post it as it might give you all a new option to consider.

The only condition is to travel through the country the car is coming from ( Colombia in case of colombian plate, Chile in case of chilean plates) and be able to obtain from the previous owner, at the moment of the purchase of the car, an official transfer document signed by the previous owner, that you will be able to use on arrival of the country the car is listed in.

For example, this is how it would work in the case of my car which has colombian plate.

1) Delivery of the following documents through a notary expert upon sale of the car : a) sale contract between me and the new owner 2) authorization of driving delivered from me to the new owner

This first step will allow you to pass all boarders without problem

2) Delivery of a colombian property transfer document signed upon sale of the vehicule which will allow you to change the ownership of the car once in Colombia.

3) Once in Colombia, you will have to follow the following steps: obtain a RUNT number and then, with your RUNT number and the already document that we will have given you, you will be able to put the car at your own name

I have not checked if this can work in all the countries but know it is possible for Colombia.
